Key Highlights
Sugomi Styling
Looks befitting Kawasaki’s top-of-the-line naturally aspirated Supernaked machine feature sugomi styling elements. Even at rest, the Z1100 looks ready to pounce, tense with energy waiting to be released. This is expressed in the sharp lines and aggressively curved surfaces found throughout the bodywork, engine covers, and menacing front end.
Separate Function Fork - Big Piston (SFF-BP)
The Z1100’s direct handling can be largely attributed to its suspension. The SFF-BP achieves both comfort and sport potential ideal for street riding.
Horizontal Back-Link
The rear suspension settings contribute to the Z1100’s direct handling, as well as linear weight transfer under braking or acceleration.
Radial-Mount Monobloc Calipers
A high-performance brake package includes radial-mount monobloc calipers and radial-pump front brake master cylinder. These contribute to a strong initial bite, superb brake feeling and formidable stopping power. Complementing the brakes are lightweight wheels and high-performance tyres that result in a sharp, sporty package.
Kawasaki Cornering Management Function
KCMF monitors engine and chassis parameters throughout the corner—from entry, through the apex, to corner exit—modulating brake force and engine power to facilitate smooth transition from acceleration to braking and back again, and to assist riders in tracing their intended line through the corner. SE model shown. Not available for the Australian market.
Kawasaki TRaction Control
Three modes cover a wide range of riding conditions, offering either enhanced sport riding performance or enabling riders to negotiate low-traction surfaces with confidence.
Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System
KIBS, Kawasaki’s supersport-grade brake management system, uses high-precision control to regulate brake pressure during sporty riding. Using feedback from the IMU, KIBS is able to incorporate an additional function: corner braking management. Should riders use the brakes beyond the entrance to a turn (i.e. trail braking) or mid-corner (e.g. to avoid an obstacle), brake force is modulated to assist riders in holding their intended line through the corner instead of running wide.
Power Modes and Integrated Riding Modes
All-inclusive modes that link KTRC (3 modes, plus OFF) and Power Mode (available in Full or Low) allow riders to easily set traction control and power delivery to suit a given riding situation. Riders can choose from three settings (Sport, Road, Rain) or a manual setting (Rider). In the manual Rider mode, each of the systems can be set independently.
Kawasaki Quick Shifter
Complementing the Z1100’s exhilarating engine character, the contactless-type quick shifter enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts for seamless acceleration and quick and easy deceleration.
Smartphone Connectivity via RIDEOLOGY THE APP MOTORCYCLE
Using the smartphone application “RIDEOLOGY THE APP,” a number of instrument functions can be accessed wirelessly, contributing to an enhanced motorcycling experience. The new version of the smartphone app now offers the ability for riders to control the app with voice commands*, which allows them adjust motorcycle settings, set GPS routes and more orally. When paired with RIDEOLOGY THE APP MOTORCYCLE, turn-by-turn navigation can be displayed on the instrument panel.
Electronic Cruise Control
Kawasaki’s electronic cruise control system allows a desired speed to be maintained with the simple press of a button. Once the desired speed has been selected, engine output is adjusted automatically via the Electronic Throttle Valves to maintain speed when ascending or descending grades are encountered. The set speed can be adjusted using the “+” and “-” buttons.
1,099 cc In-Line Four: Increased Displacement for Better Low-Mid Range
The engine in Kawasaki’s top naturally aspirated Z Supernaked displaces 1,099 cc and delivers 11.5 kgfm of torque. The liquid-cooled, 4-stroke In-Line Four engine pulls even more strongly in the low-to-mid rpm range—which riders will notice immediately and use often. From mid- to high-rpm, riders will enjoy the strong performance and sharp throttle response of the large-displacement engine. SE model shown. Not available for the Australian market.
Ergonomics for Control
The Z1100’s aggressive posture matches the bike’s direct throttle response and handling, putting riders in a position to fully capitalise on its sporty street riding potential. The new model improves on an already stellar riding position with an updated handlebar position, which is now wider and further forward, bringing improved response to rider inputs and making the handling feel lighter and sharper in every speed range for a controllable-feeling character. SE model shown. Not available for the Australian market.
5” TFT Colour Instrumentation
5” all-digital TFT colour instrumentation lends the cockpit a high-tech, high-grade appearance. The display can be switched between two display types. Type 1 shows a bar-style tachometer along the top with simple vehicle information or turn-by-turn directions below it. Type 2 shows a hexagonal tachometer with either an aviation-style attitude indicator-inspired lean angle indicator (for an added bit of fun while riding) or turn-by-turn directions in the centre.
